Many bearded dragons like to eat, and they tend to defecate at the same time. This is especially if you are feeding your beardies on a table top, or other similar surface. When you have a bearded dragon live in captivity, it will eat almost all of the food you give it. However, you should never feed your bearded dragons with leftovers. If you do, you may find some leftovers in their dishes, and they will not eat it. Leftovers contain spoiled meat, which can make them very sick.

One of the best ways to find out - how often your bearded dragons defecate is to keep a diary. Start by taking a look at how often you inspect their food bowls. Once you notice an unusual amount of impaction, this could mean that your bearded dragons' digestive system is suffering from an issue. This is easily corrected by treating the issue.

You might notice - that your bearded dragon does not seem as hungry as usual, or it might not eat as much of the food as usual. Sometimes this has nothing to do with the quality of their diet, sometimes it has to do with parasites. If you suspect that your bearded dragon's diet has become unbalanced, then you need to treat their digestive system, and this can be done by changing their diet.

You will want to get a substrate - that is suitable for your bearded dragons' needs. substrates are going to be an important part of your bearded dragon's enclosure every day. If you want your bearded dragons to be healthy, then you need to provide them with the right amount of substrate each day. The substrate that you use will affect your bearded dragons feeding habits. Some substrates require a lot of scrubbing to clean off, and other substrates are simply too moist and don't hold much of a concentration of nutrients for your beardies.

Sometimes the cause of a slow or impaction - bowel movement is blockage of their digestive system. When this happens, they won't be able to absorb the necessary nutrition from their food. Sometimes this will happen after they have eaten. In order to determine how often your bearded dragon may have their bowel movements blocked, you should make sure that there is a good supply of oxygen in their tank. Open tanks with live plants can provide some of the needed oxygen, but it is better to have a tank with substrates.

Once your bearded dragon has their bowel movements blocked: you need to remove the blockage as soon as possible. Cleaning the blockage up is quite easy. If you want to keep your bearded dragon happy, then you need to ensure that they get at least one bowel movement per day. This will ensure that your bearded dragon gets all the nutrients that they need.

If you find that your bearded dragon has lost their appetite, this could be another sign of blockage and needs to be addressed.
